Grottaferrata is one of the access ways to Castelli Romani and
is on the way to Monte Cassino and Naples. The ruins of various
ancient roman villas of the famous city of Tusculo together with
the more recent ruins of the medieval castles of Annibaldi (where
Thomas Aquinas stayed in 1272) give the surroundings somewhat
of a mystical air. The Byzantine abbey of Saint Nilo, home to
the monks since 1004, also adds to the environment through its
historic glory. Via
